September Review

At the end of September for 2024. What a month it’s been. At the fore front of my mind today is my dad birthday. For those who don’t know, my dad passed 10 years ago now. It doesn’t get any easier, I miss him. A lot. I cry most times I think about him. I do wonder if maybe one day I’ll be able to get through significant dates without feeling like my hearts been ripped out. Forever in my heart.

With that quite somber start to my September review, it’ll be hard to show how happy and proud I am of myself and the work I’ve done this month. I have many things I’ve been focussing on over the last few months.

My Business – Blue Unicorn Home.

I won’t bore you too much with the details because if you want to check things out then you can either visit my web page, Etsy store or even ask me. I will tell you patience and consistency pays off. I’m slowly gaining momentum, I feel like I’ve finally managed to put enough effort for it to start paying off.

I’ll throw a phot of my latest design and a link to my shop here if you want to check out what all the fuss is about.

Losing Weight

I’ve also been trying to lose the 15kgs that I gained after having Jim. I was not in a good place mentally for a long while after my previous employment and maternity leave. I allowed myself a long time to work on my mental health. Unfortunately, my weight just kept increasing. I had never had an issue with weight or my relationship with food but I guess after what I went through it finally pushed me to breaking point. I’ve now managed to lose and keep off 8kgs. I feel better and I am also happy with the choices I am making. That’s the key word here, I’m choosing to have a smaller portion, or skip the brownies. I’m happy with my choice, not feeling FOMO or like I need the sugar hit. I have also reduced my coffee intake on most days to a maximum of 2 half cups. I call that a win.

Meal prep this week consisted of:

  • Rice Pudding
  • Jelly and Fruit
  • BBQ Chicken, Rice and Veggies
  • Roast Pork
  • Chocolate scrolls
  • Bacon
Organisation

I’ve been using Notion to help me with this. I’m able to schedule our family meals, journal almost every day, use financial planners and the best template I’ve found so far is one for goal setting. It took me a couple of trials to really find one that works for me. I’m loving the app and especially when I’m on the go I can take notes, write feelings down and plan goals.

The one thing that has helped with all of the above has been Notion. I highly recommend the app and I’m not even using it to its full potential. I’ve just scratched the surface.

We had a wonderful day yesterday. We went for a bit of drive and had a family day spent with the Kenilworth Bakery and nearby waterfalls. all the kids enjoyed the day. It was nice to have the time to spend together.
